What tests occur during a women’s health visit?

During your women’s health appointment, Dr. Cortez-Sammons often recommends specific screening and diagnostic tests. This may include a Pap smear, mammogram, or a DEXA scan to assess your risk of osteoporosis. A DEXA scan is a noninvasive test to measure your bone mineral density.

How often do I need a Pap smear?

Dr. Cortez-Sammons will recommend the ideal frequency for pap smear tests after discussing and assessing your family history. For most women between ages 21 and 65, the ideal frequency is once every three years. However, a history of cancer often warrants more frequent testing.
